DutiesThe Staff Accountant reports to the Finance and Accounting Manager and is responsible for providing financial, administrative and clerical work relating to the Finance and Accounting Department.This candidate?s work involves processing and maintenance of financial records; maintaining and reconciling accounts; preparing and analyzing reports.Our ideal candidate will provide the services listed above in an effective and efficient manner and ensure that company finances are accurate and up to date.B. Responsibilities1. General accounting including preparing journal entries, maintaining balance and ledger accounts and account and bank reconciliation. Assisting with monthly closings, account analysis and supporting senior accountant in carrying out the responsibilities of the accounting department.Main Activities:? Maintains Financial Records for company by analyzing balance sheets and general ledger accounts? Reconciliation of bank accounts monthly? Verify transactions comply with financial policies and procedures? Supporting of accounts payable operations? Review and process expense reports? Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures2. Provide administrative support in order to ensure effective and efficient office operations.Main Activities:? Maintain inventory files.? Maintain a filing system for all financial documents.? Ensure the confidentiality and security of all financial files.? Operate a computer terminal and maintain extensive knowledge of appropriate computerized systems necessary for data entry and retrieval.? Operate all office equipment.3. Perform other related duties as required by management.C. Knowledge and Skill RequirementsThe incumbent must have proficient knowledge in the following areas:? 3 years accounting experience (accounting designation an asset)? Knowledge of accounting principles and practices? Knowledge of Financial Reporting? Must have at least an intermediate working knowledge and experience of working with the QuickBooks accounting system.? Knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable (preferred) and maintaining general ledgers? Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information? Ability to maintain confidentiality concerning financial filesD. SkillsThe incumbent must demonstrate the following skills:? Excellent interpersonal skills? Team building skills? Bookkeeping skills?
